Spring and Summer
- In the spring or summer, bushwhack uphill along the creek out back and explore hundreds of acres of VT state land – right in our back yard (Tiny Pond Wildlife Management Area description and map)! A hike alongside Little Brook takes you past a spectacular series of gorges and waterfalls, on the way up to Tiny Pond. Watch for bears and moose! If you prefer a more “civilized” trail, head out to the road, turn right, pass two or three houses and you'll see the trailhead with a map.
- If you want to just stay home and put your feet up, then grab a beer and enjoy a leisurely game of horseshoes on our regulation pits. (The kids can play alongside you with their own set of rubber horseshoes!) Play volleyball or badminton in the yard. Kick around a ball. Or just sit back on the spacious front porch or lie in the hammock in the woods and bask in the warm breeze with a good book. As the scent of fresh perennials tickles your nose.
- Stroll over to Echo Lake and enjoy kayaking or sunbathing at the water's edge. Take a fishing pole along and reel in a few smallmouth bass (Tip: A closer spot that yields bigger fish is on the Black River just before the bridge at Kingdom Road.) Enjoy a relaxing brunch at neighboring Echo Lake Inn, or whip up eggs in your country kitchen.
